Getting to Atins
Atins has no paved roads, which is why it's still Atins. The trip goes through Barreirinhas and ends with a speedboat ride along the Preguiças River, about 90 minutes, or a 4x4 over the dunes, about 2 hours. Here's every leg, what to pack, and how we help: when you dock at the port, our car picks you up at no cost.

Fly in
Fly into São Luís or Parnaíba International Airport (207 km away). Transfers to Barreirinhas leave from both.

Head to Barreirinhas
Barreirinhas is the gateway to Atins, where the last leg begins. Boats and 4x4s leave from there.

Take the speedboat to Atins
The speedboat is the option we recommend: about 90 minutes along the Preguiças River, through mangroves and riverside villages. Alternatively, the 4x4 journey takes around 2 hours over sand trails, beaches, and dunes, always with a local guide.

Arrive at Paraíso dos Ventos
We are on Rua do Sol, 100 meters from the beach. When you arrive by boat at the port of Atins, our car will be ready to pick you up and take you to Paraíso dos Ventos at no cost. Your room will be ready when you get here, and our driver is on hand for rides around the village, also free of charge.
We don't run the transportation to Atins ourselves, but we'll recommend trusted partners and work out the logistics with you.

Barreirinhas is your entry point. From there it's about 90 minutes by speedboat along the Preguiças River, or 2 hours by 4x4 through sand trails, beaches, and dunes. Private boat charters are also available.
Access is by boat (recommended) or 4x4 with a local guide. We connect you with trusted partners and walk you through the best way to get here. When you dock at the port, our car will be waiting to bring you straight to Paraíso dos Ventos - no extra charge.
For most visitors, yes - the ride itself is part of the experience. The Preguiças River passes through mangroves, native vegetation, and small riverside communities.
No. The village has no bank or ATM, and the internet can be spotty, so even Pix may not go through at some places. Get cash in Barreirinhas or São Luís before you head over.
Light clothes, a hat or cap, sunscreen (the sun on the dunes is no joke), and cash. A soft-sided bag or backpack works better than a hard-shell suitcase - the streets are sand.
You can, but most people who do end up wishing they'd stayed longer. At least two or three nights lets you actually slow down and explore.
